According to the Oxford University the name Monstera may derive from the Latin “monstrum” which means monster, an allusion to its huge jagged leaves. And the word monster means aberration, out of the ordinary, that presents deformities. And “deliciosa” means delicious, referring to its edible fruit. It is in the differentiation of its design, considered strange and unusual, that is the great beauty of Monsteras. And that made them one of the most coveted and admired plants.

When I came across this curiosity, I associated it with one of the aspects of the individuation described by Jung in which we become unique beings reaching deep uniqueness in addition to adapting over time to overcome obstacles in life.
